Canadian Wild Fires: A Human & Nature Dialogue in The Listening Field

Welcome to the Listening Field (LF) where we gather in ceremony online and on land to dialogue with Nature Elders and other Wise Beings on matters of mutual interest and concern.

FOCUS: Fires are raging across Canada and it is only mid-June. East coast, west coast and central Canada. Smoke is affecting everyone, Human and Nature, in local communities and those living down wind in the United States. Already 2023 is being named the worst Fire season on record and crews are flying in from out-of-country to ‘fight’ the Fires.

For Humans, Forest Fires equate to grief and loss, loss of homes, animals and more. But what do they mean to the Tree and other Nature Elders and Relatives? We often discover in The LF that the Nature Elders have a different view of events happening their communities. What feels devastating to us is part of a longer arc of life, death and rebirth to them.

In this Listening Field we are opening the invitation to all Nature Relatives affected by the Fires and also welcome Humans who have been directly affected by the recent or previous Forest Fires. We will have prepared group questions for the Nature Elders, and you are invited to ask personal questions as well.

NOTES:
A. The LF is a ceremony. Please be on time and plan to stay for the 1.5 hr. duration. Once we start to call in the Nature Elders, we will not admit people to the zoom room.
B. Listening Fields are recorded and the messages from the Nature Elders are often shared through video clips and visual memes.
C. INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION SESSION – June 27, 1-2:30 pm EDT Zoom link will be sent to all those who attend the Listening Field on Canadian Fires.
