“Don’t think a small group of people cannot change the world. It is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead
This program will introduce you to Earth Crisis Support Groups that we hope will spread around the world. Our common aim is to create small communities of radical love for us to share the truth about the worst existential threat currently to the human family and our common home, Mother Earth. We will review how these groups came into being and share the guidelines so you will learn how to join, begin and run a support group.
Small groups commit to sharing their feelings, telling the truth, eating together and cocreating creative responses to this historic time. Together we are able to face what alone is too painful as we:
1. Agree that there is an earth crisis.
2. Are willing to share our feelings with other people.
3. Are willing to talk about what is going in the world currently including the escalating threat of nuclear war and ecological catastrophe.
4. Are willing to eat with others at least once a week in people’s homes and explore visions, hopes and dreams for new ways of living that we are creating out of this crisis as we commit to the spiritual practice of radical love for one another.
A team of experienced group leaders are available to support new groups. Cosponsored by the Living Earth Movement and Our Common Home Counseling Center. Contact Rev. We will review how these groups came into being and share the guidelines so you will learn how to join, begin and run a support group. We all need relationships and small community support now more than ever before. There are not enough places where we can openly share truthful our thoughts and feeling about our earth’s crisis. We will not solve our earth crisis together until we have more support for our feelings. When we eat together everyone knows that we feel closer to one another and we build community experience.
Being with other people who have signed up to share their feelings and have committed to gathering regularly to get to work in the world will empower us. Twelve-step programs, psychology, and medical support groups have enabled people who were suffering to form loving healing, and empowering bonds. Even if a woman is dying from breast cancer for example, if she has a breast cancer support group, she will have a vastly better and less lonely quality of life. We need local groups both to prepare for future disasters that are coming faster than we thought as well as places to share new visionary ways of living and most importantly make commitments to love one another. https://www.livingearthmovement.eco, http://www.churchforourcommonhome.com .
