Nature’s Ethics for the Coming Crisis

Western culture holds two systems of values, and these values/patterns are held so deep they are almost automatic. In this time of change, the old adage about doing the same thing over and over yet expecting different results is a mark of insanity, holds true. Cherishing these old values, it is only normal that they would be pulled forward, but if they are, we will NOT get different results. The time is right to learn from nature.
Over 20 years of research in areas where there was an intent to understand our planet and how she works, including science, systems thinking, poets, philosophers and indigenous wisdom, has allowed me to pull together nature’s own system, the patterns/values she uses to ensure all life thrives. Come learn about this planetary consciousness and how living as if all life matters changes everything.
Fascinated with organizational change, Kathryn Alexander was an early student of systems thinking, creating study groups for the Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge and studying with Fritjof Capra, starting in the 70s. Her change work showed her the impact of tacit values on leadership and management styles. This insight, combined with the remarkable work of Jane Jacobs, led her to working with the two value systems Jacobs posited, including her own researched addition of nature’s value system in the early 2000s.
Kathryn’s shift to nature as the expert provided a strong framework for effective and harmonious change, in sync with nature – the largest system. Her work with organizations utilized tools and processes that were developed using systems thinking principles to shift the structures of engagement so that inclusion and partnership came easily, improving organizational change dramatically. Her ethics and values work is instrumental in the development of Kathryn’s Birds of a Feather™ model, which became a core piece in the Strategic Values™ culture and leadership assessments.
