The Art of Group Conversation

The Mission of the Art of Group Conversation (AGC) is:
“To help group members see beyond “us” and “them,” and experience their common humanity.”
Art of Group Conversation is a unique facilitated group dialogue that connects participants through an enjoyable memory matching activity. As we imagine another’s experience, we can more easily identify with each other instead of judging.”2 When this identification happens, there is an increased sense of safety and interest which replaces the distrust and “otherness” that comes about when we encounter differences. Once trust is established and rapport is built, individuals shift into a more positive mindset conducive to more effective group work.
Even if we don’t have an ongoing relationship, the experience of building a closeness with what had been a diverse group of strangers leaves a lasting sense of hope and amazement about what is possible when we come together in a safe place and in an authentic way. Each person is affirmed by telling their story and feelings of isolation decrease.
